Meet the Team
Bernardus Bosman

Bernardus Bosman is the Environmental and Wetland Specialist Consulting Group (ESCG). He is a registered environmental scientist with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) and brings over four years of professional experience in wetland science, geomorphology, UAV photogrammetry, and environmental impact assessments. He holds a Master of Science in Geography from the University of the Free State, with a research focus on fluvial geomorphology and UAV remote sensing, and an Honours degree in Environmental Science with a specialisation in wetland geomorphology. He also completed a BSc in Geography and Environmental Science. Bernardus is currently pursuing a PhD in Wetland Geomorphology and UAV Remote Sensing, focusing on the geomorphic response and resilience of South African wetlands to extreme rainfall events. His research and consulting work are grounded in scientific precision to support conservation and sustainable land-use planning. He has led and contributed to numerous high-impact environmental assessments, including the Wetland and Aquatic Ecosystem Impact Assessment for the Swartberg World Heritage Site, combining scientific precision with practical mitigation planning.
EMMA VAN DEVENTER
Intern
Emma van Deventer is a Wetland Scientist Intern at ESCG, with an academic background in Earth Science, Geography and Environmental Studies. She recently completed her Honours research on the stratigraphy of an eroded valley-bottom wetland in the Houw Hoek area and has exposure to GIS, geomorphology, wetland delineation, EcoServices and wetland classification methods. At ESCG, Emma supports fieldwork, wetland mapping, data collection, spatial analysis and the preparation of wetland assessment reports.
